How Lifetime Electrics collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Jay Rawlings, licensed electrical contractor and director of Lifetime Electrics, working on site in Perth

Lifetime Electrics Pty Ltd ABN 97 698 724 060 · ACN 698 724 060 Electrical Contractor Licence EC17925

Effective: 13 August 2026 Last updated: 13 August 2026

In short

We're a small electrical contracting business in Perth. We collect the information we need to quote your job, do the work safely, issue the certificates the law requires, and invoice you. We don't sell your information to anyone. We keep job records for as long as the regulations require us to, and then we get rid of them.

The rest of this page is the detail.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Lifetime Electrics Pty Ltd ("Lifetime Electrics", "we", "us", "our") and to every way we deal with personal information - through our website at lifetimeelectrics.com.au, by phone, by email, on site, and through the systems we use to run the business.

Our position on the Privacy Act. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) generally applies to organisations with an annual turnover of more than $3 million, and we currently sit below that threshold. Rather than work out precisely where we fall, we've decided to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles regardless, because it's the right standard and because the people whose homes and businesses we work in deserve it. Where this policy says we will do something, that's a commitment we're making to you.

2. What we collect

From customers and enquirers

  • Contact and identity details - your name, phone number, email address, and the name of the business or agency you represent.
  • Address details - the address of the property the work is at, and a billing address if it's different.
  • Job information - what you need done, what's gone wrong, photographs and details of the existing installation, switchboard and meter details, the age and construction of the building, previous electrical work, and any relevant history.
  • Access information - gate codes, key locations, parking arrangements, alarm details, preferred times, dog on the property, tenant contact details, site induction requirements.
  • Photographs of the work area and the installation, before, during and after the work. See section 7.
  • Payment information - invoice and payment records. If you pay by card or bank transfer, the payment is processed by our bank or payment provider; we do not store your full card number.
  • Correspondence - emails, text messages, quote requests, notes of phone calls, and any reviews or feedback you give us.

From our website

When you visit lifetimeelectrics.com.au, we and the third-party services listed in section 5 may collect:

  • your IP address and approximate location (usually to the suburb or city level);
  • your device type, operating system, browser and screen size;
  • the pages you viewed, how long you stayed, what you clicked, and the site or search that sent you to us;
  • cookie and advertising identifiers;
  • anything you type into a form on the site.

Sensitive information

We don't set out to collect sensitive information and we don't want it. There is one situation where it can come up in our line of work: if someone at the property relies on life-support equipment, we need to know, because it affects how we plan an outage and it may need to be registered with the network operator. If you tell us that, we treat it as health information - we record only the fact of it and what we need to do about it, we use it only for that purpose, and we don't keep it any longer than the job requires.

Please don't send us health, financial, or other sensitive details we haven't asked for.

Job applicants and apprentices

If you apply for work with us, we collect your resume, qualifications, licence and training records, references and contact details, and use them only to assess your application. If you're unsuccessful we keep your application for up to 12 months in case something else comes up, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

3. How we collect it

Mostly directly from you - when you fill in a form on our website, call or text us, email us, or talk to us on site.

Sometimes we collect it from someone else, and you should know when that happens:

  • From your property manager, landlord, strata manager or real estate agent when they engage us to attend a tenanted property, and from a tenant when we arrange access.
  • From a builder, project manager or head contractor when we're working as a subcontractor on your job.
  • From the person who referred you, if a neighbour, tradesperson or previous customer passes on your details so we can call you.
  • From the network operator (Western Power) in the course of a supply application or a connection.
  • From publicly available sources, such as a business's own website or a public land title or planning record, where we need to confirm a site detail.

If we collect your information from someone other than you, we'll make sure you know we have it the first time we contact you.

4. Why we collect it, and what we do with it

We use personal information to:

  1. Answer your enquiry and prepare a quote.
  2. Schedule and carry out the work - including getting to the right address, planning outages, ordering materials, and coordinating with other trades.
  3. Meet our legal obligations as a licensed electrical contractor. This is the big one and it's not optional for us. Under the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991 (WA) we must lodge a Preliminary Notice before notifiable work starts and a Notice of Completion within three days of finishing, and we must issue you an Electrical Safety Certificate within 28 days of completing electrical installing work. Those documents necessarily identify the property and the person the work was done for. We're also required to keep records of that work for a minimum of five years and to produce them if the regulator asks.
  4. Invoice you and keep our accounts, including meeting our tax and record-keeping obligations.
  5. Warranty, callbacks and safety. If a fault develops, or a product we installed is recalled, our records are how we work out what was installed and when.
  6. Deal with complaints, insurance claims and disputes.
  7. Improve the website and our service - understanding which pages people actually find useful, and where enquiries come from.
  8. Stay in touch, if you've agreed to it. See section 8.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Ever.

5. Our website: cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. Some are necessary to make the site work; others help us understand how the site is used, and let us advertise to people who've visited it.

Here's exactly what runs on our site and who gets the data.

Service Provider What it does Where the data goes
Google Analytics 4 Google LLC Measures visits, pages viewed, traffic sources and form completions. Sets cookies containing a random identifier. Google uses your IP address to work out an approximate location and then discards it; it isn't stored against your activity. Google, including servers outside Australia
Google Tag Manager Google LLC A container that loads and manages the tags below. Doesn't collect anything by itself. Google
Google Ads (conversion tracking and remarketing) Google LLC Records when a visit leads to an enquiry, and allows us to show ads to people who have visited our site. Google, including servers outside Australia
Meta Pixel Meta Platforms, Inc. Records visits and enquiries so we can measure and target our Facebook and Instagram advertising, including showing ads to previous visitors. Meta, including servers outside Australia
Website hosting and forms Our Australian hosting provider; Gravity Forms (self-hosted on our site) Server logs and form submissions. Stored on our website's server
Google Maps Google LLC Displays a map on our contact page, if you load it. Google

What this means in plain terms. Google and Meta can, in some circumstances, connect what you do on our website to their own record of you - particularly if you're signed in to a Google or Facebook account. We don't send them your name, phone number or email address, and we don't see their record of you. But we're the reason those tags are on the page, so we tell you they're there.

How to control it

  • Cookie settings - most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking them won't stop you using our site, though the contact form may not behave properly.
  • Google Analytics - you can install Google's browser opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Google Ads personalisation - myadcenter.google.com
  • Meta ad preferences - in your Facebook or Instagram account under Settings → Ads.
  • Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control - being straight with you: most large advertising and analytics platforms, Google included, don't change their behaviour when a browser sends one of these signals, and we have no way to make them. The browser and account controls above are the ones that actually work.

Our site is not aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 through it.

6. Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only where we need to, and only to these categories of recipient.

Because the law requires it

  • Western Power or the relevant network operator, and Building and Energy (Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety), when we lodge Preliminary Notices and Notices of Completion through the electrical eNotice system, or apply for a supply or connection on your behalf.
  • The Electrical Licensing Board and Building and Energy, if they audit our work or investigate a complaint and require our records.
  • Any other body we're legally compelled to give information to - a court, a regulator acting within its powers, or law enforcement acting under a warrant or a lawful request.

Because your job needs it

  • Our employees and apprentices, who see only what they need for the job they're attending.
  • Subcontractors and other trades we bring in - for example, a licensed data or air-conditioning contractor, a builder, or a plant hire operator - who get the site address and the access details, not your whole file.
  • Suppliers and manufacturers, where a delivery has to go to your address, or a warranty claim has to be made in your name.
  • Your property manager, landlord, strata manager, builder or head contractor, where they engaged us or where we need them to authorise the work.

Because we have to run a business

  • Our accountant and bookkeeper, and our accounting software provider (Xero or MYOB), for invoicing, BAS and tax.
  • Our job management software provider, which holds job records, schedules, site notes and photographs.
  • Our email, phone and file storage providers.
  • Our insurers and, if it ever came to it, our lawyers, in connection with a claim or a dispute.
  • A purchaser of the business, if Lifetime Electrics is ever sold - in which case the buyer would be bound to handle your information the same way.

Advertising and analytics - as set out in section 5.

We ask everyone who handles information on our behalf to protect it and to use it only for the purpose we gave it to them for.

7. Photographs

We photograph our work. It's how we document what was there before we started, prove the work was tested, support a warranty claim, and - sometimes - show other customers what we do.

For job records and compliance, we photograph as a matter of course. Those photos stay in the job file.

If we do publish work photos, we don't include your name, your address, your street number, your car, or anything else that identifies the property - unless it's a commercial job and you've specifically agreed to be named.

8. Marketing and staying in touch

If you've been a customer or made an enquiry, we may occasionally contact you with something genuinely useful - a reminder that your safety switches are due for testing, a change in the regulations that affects your installation, or a note that we're working in your area.

  • We'll only send electronic marketing where you've consented or where you're an existing customer and would reasonably expect it, as the Spam Act 2003 allows.
  • Every message will identify us and include a way to opt out, and we'll action an opt-out promptly.
  • We don't do telemarketing, and we comply with the Do Not Call Register Act 2006.
  • Opting out of marketing doesn't affect the messages we have to send you about a job you've booked - appointment confirmations, quotes, invoices, and your Electrical Safety Certificate.

To opt out at any time, reply STOP, click the unsubscribe link, or just email info@lifetimeelectrics.com.au.

9. How we store and protect it

  • Job records, schedules and site photographs are held in our job management system, which is access-controlled and requires a password and multi-factor authentication.
  • Accounting records are held in our accounting software, likewise access-controlled.
  • Our website and its form submissions are hosted in Australia. The site runs on maintained software with an SSL certificate, so what you type into a form is encrypted in transit.
  • Phones and laptops used for work are password- or biometric-protected and can be wiped remotely if lost.
  • Access is on a need-to-know basis. Our apprentice sees the jobs she's attending, not the accounts.
  • We don't hold paper files any longer than a job takes, and paper that has customer details on it is destroyed rather than binned.

No system is perfectly secure and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is that we keep as little as we can, for as short a time as the law allows, and we don't put it anywhere it doesn't need to be.

10. If something goes wrong

If we become aware of unauthorised access to, or loss of, personal information we hold, we will:

  1. contain it immediately;
  2. assess what was affected and who it affects;
  3. tell the people affected if there's a real risk of serious harm to them, and tell them what they should do about it; and
  4. notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies, and follow that scheme's process regardless.

11. How long we keep it

Information How long Why
Electrical work records, notices and safety certificates Minimum 5 years, in practice 7 Required by the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991 (WA)
Invoices and financial records 5 years minimum, in practice 7 ATO record-keeping requirements
Job files, site notes and photographs 7 years from completion Warranty, callbacks, and the limitation period for claims in WA
Quotes that didn't proceed 2 years In case you come back to it
Website enquiries that didn't become jobs 12 months Then deleted from the form records
Unsuccessful job applications 12 months Then deleted
Website analytics data 14 months Google Analytics retention setting
Marketing list Until you unsubscribe Plus a suppression record so we don't contact you again by mistake

When a period expires we delete or de-identify the information, unless we're required to keep it for a legal proceeding that's on foot.

12. Getting access to your information, or correcting it

You can ask us:

  • what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
  • to correct anything that's wrong, out of date or incomplete;
  • to delete information we no longer need to keep - bearing in mind the retention obligations in section 11, which we can't waive.

Email info@lifetimeelectrics.com.au or call 0410 818 405. We'll ask a couple of questions to confirm it's really you, then respond within 30 days. We don't charge for this. If we can't give you something - because it's someone else's information, or because we're required to keep it - we'll tell you why.

13. Overseas disclosure

Some of the services we use store or process data outside Australia:

  • Google LLC (Analytics, Tag Manager, Ads, Maps) - United States and other countries where Google operates.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Pixel) - United States and other countries where Meta operates.
  • Our accounting and job management software providers may hold data in Australia or overseas depending on the provider; both are subject to their own privacy commitments.

By using our website you acknowledge that information collected by those services may be handled outside Australia and may not be protected by Australian privacy law to the same standard.

14. Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your information, tell us first - most things are a misunderstanding and we'd rather fix it than have you stew on it.

Email: info@lifetimeelectrics.com.au · Phone: 0410 818 405

We'll acknowledge your complaint within five business days and give you a written answer within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the national privacy regulator, at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992. The OAIC's power to formally investigate a complaint depends on whether a business is covered by the Privacy Act 1988; as noted in section 1, small businesses under the turnover threshold generally aren't. That doesn't change our commitment to dealing with your complaint properly, and we won't hide behind it.

15. Other people's websites

Our website links to other sites - the WA Government's licence search, Building and Energy, our industry association, product manufacturers, our Google Business Profile. Once you're on someone else's site, their privacy policy applies, not ours. We don't control what they collect.

16. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised. If we ever make a change that materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know rather than quietly editing the page.
